I first started this work because I was alarmed by the rate at which our consumption is causing species loss, harming natural habitats, and compromising our own health.  Since 2005, my understanding of conservation and humanity's unique role on earth have developed into a personal mission:

"To empower leaders to conserve natural resources
and protect our children's future"

To help, I've created a list of some of my favorite resources:

Conservation

  • Care2.com is the largest online community for healthy and green living, human rights, and animal welfare.   The site offers fun news, online petitions, and a global network of other people who care to make a difference.
  • Shark Stewards is dedicated to conserving our oceans through the protection of sharks.  I am the chair of the Shark Stewards Texas chapter. Visit SharkStewards.org and join our Facebook community!
  • World Wildlife Fund is a global conservation organization containing the news, resources, and research by country.

Environmental Education

  • Kids Saving Energy is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy to help kids of all ages learn about renewable energy and energy efficiency. It contains links to over 350 lesson plans and activities on energy efficiency and renewable energy for grades K-12.
  • National Geographic Kids allows kids can blog, read stories, find activities and look at pictures about wildlife and the planet.

Faith-Based

  • Blessed Earth is a faith-based website that is full of fantastic ideas for weaving creation care into home, church, community, vacations and work.
  • Evangelical Environmental Network is a ministry dedicated to the care of God's creation. EEN also publishes Creation Care magazine and the Creation Care blog
  • Not One Sparrow is a blog and resources site authored by my friend Ben Devries, a Christian voice for animals.
  • SustainLane.com is a "people-powered" guide to sustainable living, offering tons of recipes, product reviews and tips on family, health and wellness, beauty and fashion, home and garden, and environment and society.  SustainLane has pulled some thought leaders together on this dedicated page for creation care.
